MONTESSORI EDUCATION

We are a Montessori style preschool. This style of education was created by Dr. Maria Montessori over a century ago. Instead of simply teaching a list of facts to all students at the same time, a Montessori education sees the teacher act as a guide to help each student find work that is challenging for them individually. The child is then allowed to work at the pace that is right for them and the teacher helps track their progress. The goal of this method is to help the child not just learn, but come to love learning and look for opportunities to grow and develop throughout their life.

MIXED AGE CLASSROOMS

An important piece of a Montessori style education is a mixed-age classroom. Allowing children between 3 and 6 to all be in the same classroom provides great opportunities for development. Younger children learn as they watch the older children work. Meanwhile, the older children are given the chance to develop leadership skills as they act as role models for the younger children. Mixed-age classrooms also help represent real world situations where people of different ages and backgrounds socialize and work together.
